Upgrade/Expansion of Existing IPCCTV/ANPR

The planned replacement and enhancement of the Estate CCTV system has now been installed and final testing / commissioning is underway.  The new system consists of 24 cameras (both fixed and controllable) as well as a new ANPR system to record all vehicles entering and exiting the Estate.

We would like to thank the London Riverside BID for providing 50% matched funding for this major project, which has resulted in a significant upgrade and futureproofing of our CCTV system, and further enhances the alignment of CCTV systems throughout the London Riverside BID area.

A copy of the installers summary of the project is shown below:

Security and Electronic Solutions Ltd were first approached in 2022 by the estate who desired our technical expertise when looking to investigate the existing CCTV System at Fairview Industrial Park.

After the initial visit by our team, it was obvious that the existing Bosch system was unreliable, out of date and consisted of various components that were unobtainable or due to be phased out by the manufacturers. Further to initial consultation, it was apparent that the system was not salvageable, and the best way forward was for the installation of a full IP CCTV System. Being a large site without any cable routes, the only option was to consider a wireless transmission system to carry the signals between each location. Surveys were carried out by our professional partners to ensure a high powered and reliable solution was specified by our sales team.

There were several changes to our proposal along the journey, as the estate’s requirements varied, but we were delighted to have found out that we had won the job in July 2023.

After our final meeting with the management team where we made some small adjustments to our specification, our engineers commenced work throughout August.

The installation consists of several number plate recognition cameras that not only log each vehicle entering the site, but they also display this information to everyone entering on LED signage, so that visitors can see the system working and logging site entry.

The Gate House has a live view of this information, enabling security in the Gate House to send notification to the security team in the Estate House of any unauthorised vehicles attempting to enter the park.

In addition to the number plate recognition system, several ultra high-resolution cameras both fixed and controllable have been installed throughout the estate in key areas agreed with management.

The cameras record 24/7 in excellent quality ensuring that the client has the best opportunity to deter, investigate and prosecute any offence or incident.

Operators in the security station and main offices have full control of the system via their user interface and control room monitors, with joystick keyboards making the control of the cameras seamless. The installation is great achievement for us and the estate management, an extremely successful well executed project without the need for any roads to be dug up, any new power requirements and utilising all the existing lamp columns and mounts.

PHASE EIGHT – HIGHWAY INFRASTRUCTURE CONDITION WORKS

The phase eight infrastructure investigation works went to plan throughout June and July with little or no disturbance to the Fairview Business Park stakeholders. Even though the works were undertaken during weekday daytime hours the fast-track mobile nature of the works, was well managed Roadtechs and the estate security team.

Initial findings from the investigative works appear positive with the estate management receiving a full report and presentation from Roadtechs in October 2023, which is when options and recommendations for future maintenance works will be discussed and a forward plan formulated.

The first inspection (two-month review) of the Roadpatch MMA instant pothole repair treatment has been undertaken with excellent results. The repair, which was undertaken in the gateway area of a very busy commercial property, with regular trafficking by heavy good vehicles, is showing no signs of failure or depressions. There will be a further inspection (four-month review) in October 2023, which if successful, will result in material being available on site for a faster in-house response to any smaller emergency pothole issues that may arise in the future.

50% match funding is always sought from the London Riverside BID for all projects

LATEST REPORT FROM RENEWI

Following on from trials we conducted last summer, we decided that a change of approach was required on how we carry out fly control on site. We focused our trials on more effective use of adulticides, with a more proactive approach to treatments, with the goal in mind that we could reduce the reliance on a third party pest controller, react to concerns and outbreaks as soon as encountered them and have more traceability on what products had been used and in what quantities.

The trials proved successful in reducing the number of flies outside of buildings and particularly at the perimeters of our site and we did not have to wait for a third party to react to an outbreak, which could at times be a 24 to 48 hour wait, speed of response is critical when you are dealing with up to 180000 tons of waste, every single ton of which has the potential to generate flies. However, for us to see a long term gain for the trials we needed resource, and as such we employed a new member of staff to make these trials our new way of working.

The role started full time this April at the start of what we call fly season (Not as good as the start of a Premier League season sadly) and has been a big success, other Renewi sites have indeed followed suit in changing their treatments to mirror our own.

We have seen a drop in outdoor fly counts and now track these counts over a five year period, something that we previously only did with counts taken from inside the MBT facility to understand the impact of any changes we have made. On the other hand counts inside the MBT building have remained stable, however we already have some ideas and suggestions on how to reduce the number of flies inside the MBT facilities. As we approach the colder months, this gives us the prime opportunity to carry out some more trials & work towards decreasing our overall impact further.

In other news, we are investing around £300k to stabilise Creek way, which has suffered with subsidence, a 30 meter stretch of the road in particular has suffered. Works have started and are progressing well and we will provide a further update in the next newsletter.

We will continue to keep you informed of progress with any projects on site, in the meantime if you would like to contact us, you can do so on 01708 634540, or by email to Lee.Goodfellow@renewi.com

WE CONFIRM WE ACTIVELY DISCOURAGE UNMARKED VEHICLES/VANS FROM ENTERING THE ESTATE.  THERE HAVE BEEN RECENT INCIDENTS WHERE UNAUTHORISED VEHICLES HAVE ENTERED THE ESTATE AND PROCEEDED TO REMOVE ITEMS FROM SKIPS/OUTSIDE OF PREMISES.

In general, crime on the Estate appears to be under control.  All mobile patrol vehicles are fitted with on board cameras, on board tracking and panic buttons. The mobile patrol guards are fitted with body cameras

There is a WhatsApp group operated by the Estate’s Security, and the Estate’s Management team that allows a prompt response when dealing with any incidents or issues.
