Upgrade/Expansion of Existing IPCCTV/ANPR
In conjunction with the London Riverside BID we are pleased to announce a major upgrade and extension of the CCTV on the Fairview Industrial Park. After an extensive selection period, we have appointed Security And Electrical Solutions Ltd, to carry out the work and thank the BID for providing 50% funding for the project. The upgraded system will extend the overall CCTV coverage of the BID area and allow a co-ordinated approach across the area and is scheduled to be undertaken over the summer of 2023.
The current system consists of 14 static/domes cameras, installed at strategic, vulnerable locations throughout the Estate. In addition to this, there are 9 cameras installed at the security gatehouse that record all vehicle movement in and out of the Estate, and cover the entrance/ exit barriers.
The current system has been in situ for a considerable length of time and we had found that support and maintenance was becoming increasingly difficult, in some cases impossible and certainly more expensive. Technology has also moved on considerably and thus the decision was made to replace the existing Estate CCTV. The upgrade will include installing ANPR’s at the security gatehouse and adding several cameras to provide an improved coverage of all the Estate roads.
The Management of the Fairview Industrial Park continue to invest in crime reduction initiatives to reduce even further the existing low crime rate experienced on the Estate. The Estate CCTV system is not only utilised for crime detection and anti-social behaviour deterrence, but also to assist with the overall management of the Estate and of course will continue to operates in full compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
A huge “THANK YOU” goes to the London Riverside BID for their assistance and the 50% match funding towards this project.
PHASE EIGHT – HIGHWAY INFRASTRUCTURE CONDITION WORKS
During June and into July 2023 Roadtechs, along with the Estate management team, will be undertaking exploratory works to assess the condition of the estate’s highway infrastructure. This will initially be focussed on Marsh Way and the area of Barlow Way approaching the junction of Marsh Way. Small samples of the carriageway will be extracted and sent away for analysis and testing. The results will be presented to the Estate management team in late July / early August 2023.
The findings from the investigation works will help determine the way forward for the continued maintenance and upkeep of the Estate’s highway network.
On June 21st Roadtechs successfully demonstrated the use of their Roadpatch MMA Pothole and Patch Repair System. The installed repair material will be monitored over the next 2-3 months, after which small repairs may be undertaken by the Estate’s own maintenance / emergency response team. This will potentially provide a faster in-house response to any smaller reactive maintenance issues that may arise. In addition to faster response times, the in-house service has the potential to enable the infrastructure maintenance budget to stretch further, thus allowing for an element of other network improvements to be implemented, as and when required.
50% match funding is always sought from the London Riverside BID for all projects
LATEST REPORT FROM RENEWI
I am pleased to confirm that we have completed the planned upgrades to the fire system at the Frog Island Waste facility. This was a significant capital investment and has been a real team effort from everyone involved to get the project over the line with minimal operational interruptions.
The state of the art system now means all of our fire detection and suppression within the MBT facility is automatic, we have installed flame detectors and automatic cannons for all three drying halls, reception & shredder areas, all conveyor belts now have linear heat detection (which means every part of each conveyor is completely covered for detection) as well as upgraded the deluge systems within the conveyors.
The two new fire water tanks now hold just over 1 million litres of water for fire suppression. Since going live the system has detected and put out 5 fires. All 5 occurred at the primary shredder areas, all detected by the flame detectors and water cannons activating in less than 15 seconds, no manual intervention required which a significant improvement.
Each cannon sprays over 1000 litres of water per minute ensuring very little change a small flash developing into a genuine fire.
Our fly prevention plan continues, this year we have employed a new colleague to carry out more treatments in house, this allows us to react to issues far quicker than relying on a third party and gives us more control than we have had previously. We are always conscious that our activities and the nature of what we deal with will naturally attract flies and pests, and continue to improve our processes whenever we can.
We will continue to keep you informed of progress with any projects on site, in the meantime if you would like to contact us, you can do so on 01708 634540, or by email to Lee.Goodfellow@renewi.com
