LATEST REPORT FROM RENEWI
Renewi has not received any new fly complaints since last summer. As we begin to enter the new fly season Renewi have begun implementing this year’s fly management plan to ensure fly levels remain low as we enter Spring and the coming Summer months. Renewi will continue with the current measures throughout the next few months to ensure that fly numbers remain low.
Renewi continues to remain fully operational throughout the last 12 months and the pandemic providing a critical service to the four local boroughs.
The team have continued to work with the Fairview Estate throughout this time to manage any concerns and regular fly liaison meetings will continue this coming year in a Covid secure manner.
We will continue to keep you informed of progress with any projects on site, in the meantime if you would like to contact us, you can do so on 01708 634540, or by email to Gurjeet.Kaur-Assi@renewi.com
Installation of new 2 rising arm barriers and safety package at Security gatehouse.
The old 4 barrier rising arm system had been in place for over ten years and finding replacement parts for them was making maintenance difficult and costly, within current regulations. Various features were not working correctly, causing operational issues.
We anticipate an immediate reduction in maintenance and service costs.
MATCH FUNDING IS SOUGHT FROM THE LONDON RIVERSIDE BID FOR ALL PROJECTS. THIS PROJECT SUCCESSFULLY ACHEIVED 50% MATCH FUNDING FROM LONDON RIVERSIDE BID
Projects awaiting completion.
Fairview Industrial Park – Asset Review of the Footway & Carriageway Network Throughout the Estate.
As you are aware the Estate has been surveyed, and the infrastructure has been categorized with immediate and longer – term maintenance works
We had planned to commence addressing the highest priority items early in 2021, and had aimed to work through all of the identified defects over the coming 24 months. However, due to adverse weather conditions late January 2021, and the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, there have been unavoidable delays.
In the later part of April 2021, a follow up site meeting has been arranged to identify, agree and prioritise works for the following 12 months.
The initial stage will form Phase 6 of Roadtech’s ongoing program of works, and match funding will be sought from the London Riverside BID in line with all projects for the Estate.
Safety Improvement Scheme – Pedestrian Crossing to the North of the Estate/ Security Gatehouse
Businesses may have noticed when exiting the Estate that it is not uncommon for pedestrians to walk on the road, and concerns have been raised regarding this practice by a number of businesses on the Estate.
Historically, Marsh Way did not have the sharp bend that now exists but instead continued straight, with good lines of sight, and as such a single footpath (located on the East side of the entrance road) was presumably deemed appropriate. However, when the A13 was constructed, the current Marsh Way, with the sharp bend, was installed, and as such the “shortest” route for pedestrians onto / out of the Estate is to walk up or down the exit lane.
Due to the steepness of the banks on the West side of the entrance to the Estate, it is economically impractical to install a footpath on this side, however we feel that it is important to provide a safe option for pedestrians to cross the road and access the footpath on the East side.
During early 2020 we, therefore instructed consultants to undertake a Feasibility Study to examine various options to improve safety and provide a safer pedestrian route onto the Estate. Lockdown and disruptions to “usual” traffic patterns have caused delays in completing this work, however the conclusion of the finished report was that a pedestrian crossing, with Belisha Beacons located at the entrance to the Estate was on balance the most appropriate solution.
The local authorities and utility companies have been approached for their input/approvals, and a design has now been sent to various contractors, who have been invited to quote for the works, which we hope to go ahead with during the summer of this year, and will again be managed by the consultants.
As with all significant projects, an application will be submitted to the London Riverside BID to be considered for “match funding” towards the overall costs of the proposed scheme.
WARNING: PLEASE BE EXTRA VIGILANT AND DO NOT LEAVE KEYS IN VEHICLES AND AVOID LEAVING VEHICLES UNATTENDED!!!!!!
WE CONFIRM WE ACTIVELY DISCOURAGE UNMARKED VEHICLES/VANS FROM ENTERING THE ESTATE. THERE HAVE BEEN RECENT INCIDENTS WHERE UNAUTHORISED VEHICLES HAVE ENTERED THE ESTATE AND PROCEEDED TO REMOVE ITEMS FROM SKIPS/OUTSIDE OF PREMISES.
WHEN ASKED TO LEAVE, THE INDIVIDUALS HAVE BECOME ABUSIVE / THREATENING.
UNFORTUNATELY, ON OCCASIONS THESE VEHICLES/VANS HAVE BEEN INVITED ONTO THE ESTATE BY BUSINESSES TO REMOVE RUBBISH ETC.
HOWEVER, WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU CAN AVOID INVITING THESE INDIVIDUALS ONTO THE ESTATE PLEASE.
In general, crime on the estate appears to be under control. All mobile patrol vehicles are fitted with on board cameras, on board tracking and panic buttons. The mobile patrol guards are fitted with body cameras
There is a WhatsApp group operated by the Estate’s Security, businesses who have access to a mobile phone are included in the group.

Completion of CCTV Functionality Test, Asset Tags/bar Codes and Registration.
The management of the Fairview Industrial Park continue to invest in crime reduction initiatives to reduce even further the existing low crime rate experienced on the Estate.
In October 2020 a full survey and functionality test of all CCTV was undertaken, asset tags/bar codes were put in place and registered. This is for warranty purposes and for general management of assets, and will aid with updating/replacing CCTV where necessary in the future. Consideration is being given to add another CCTV to cover the new entrance barrier system, now being installed at the security gatehouse.
There are currently 14 CCTV static/Domes installed at strategic, vulnerable locations on the Estate. In addition to this, there are 8 CCTV’s installed at the security gatehouse that record all vehicle movements in and out of the Estate.
The CCTV system is not only utilised for crime detection and anti-social behaviour deterrence, but also to assist with overall management of the Estate.
The Estate CCTV system of course, operates in full compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018
